John is the OgilvyOne CTO – a role that has him overseeing all of Ogilvy Group UK’s client technology needs – including both technology strategy and implementation. Passionate about all areas of improving customer experiences, he loves working in small, effective teams bringing ideas to life using technology.
John has worked in digital for almost 20 years and brings a wealth of experience in different technologies and project types to the table. He has been responsible for the creation of projects ranging from realtime data driven laser mapped projections in New York's Grand Central Station to large e-commerce systems and global brand portals. He is fortunate to have worked with some of the world’s most iconic brands including BT, Philips, Volkswagen, BMW, Guinness, Royal Mail, Land Rover, Canon, Adidas, O2 and Avios.
In previous roles with organisations such as TribalDDB John pushed into big data including running the Volkswagen car configurator with over 90 million different car configurations – delivering any of them in under 1 second. Moving into e-commerce, he worked at Royal Mail where he architected and launched the Royal Mail online shop with annual turnover of over £200m. As an advocate of great ways of working John has also certified and led teams in AGILE/Scrum processes leading agencies to embrace new approaches to delivery.
Spare time sees John take a partial step away from technology. He is a passionate advocate of urban gardening (having grown up on farms) and tends to his various rooftop veg and fruit patches, growing salads, raspberries, grapes, apple and plum trees amongst others.
